Neurotechnology to Treat Brain Disorders (in partnership with Dr. Elric Zhang at the Multi-Scale Robotics Lab at ETH Zurich and Meta-Brain EU)

I was commissioned by Dr. Elric Zhang (ETH Zürich) to produce this A0-sized illustration demonstrating his research and development in neurotechnology to treat brain disorders, like Parkinson's and epilepsy. 

Dr. Zhang’s work explores the use of externally mounted magnets to wirelessly deliver electrical stimulation via biodegradable nanoparticles, enabling precise interaction with neurons and enhanced brain imaging. 

My challenge as an illustrator was to capture this technology while not over-complicating the visual demonstration. The goal was to capture a stylistic image that blends comic art (simplistic) within scientific illustration (complex). We wanted the image to be explanatory, but not overly so — hence why there is no text — and visually engaging for an audience already familiar with brain research (other scientists). 

The poster (printed) accompanied his team to a conference in Japan, where he spoke about his cutting-edge research.
